BO JUTSU SHINKEN GATA SEMINAR HAS BEEN HELD

The basics of Budo is Bo Jutsu – the art of fighting with a long stick, says our teacher Masaaki Hatsumi Sôke. The long stick is the one of the first weapons of mankind. The art of using the long stick, Bo jutsu, is one of the basic arts in Bujinkan Budo Ninpo taijusu – Ninjutsu. We train with many kinds of sticks and poles in Ninjutsu, and Bo jutsu is one of the themes that has been taught in Bujinkan Ryu this year.
Therefore, on the 17/18 September 2005., a seminar by the name Bo Jutsu Shinken gata, or translated "Real fighting technics with a long stick – Bo", has been held in Zagreb. The seminar was led by Shihan Dean Rostohar, 10. Dan Fugyo Happo Hiken.

SEMINAR OSIJEK 2005

For the fifth time in a row, Osijek has, this year also, been a host for already a traditional Ninjutsu seminar led by Dean Rostohar Shihan. As the theme of this year in Bujinkan is the Gyokko ryu school, Shihan Rostohar has taught the fighting principles characteristic for this school. Through the same theme he has also taught the use of Hanbo, Tanto, Daisho and Manriki kusari, all weapons and tools of traditional Ninja warriors. Shihan Rostohar payed special attention to the reality in training so that the participants would understand the principles he taught properly and be able to apply them if needed.

All that Shihan taught required a lot of movement which was not at least easy to perform, but good basics allowed the participants to follow the teachings of Shihan Rostohar.

SEMINAR BUDAPEST

One more of the series of excellent seminars was held this time on the 26th and 27th March 2005. in Budapest, Hungary, and it was led by Dean Rostohar Shihan. The seminar was organized by Bujinkan Zanshin Dojo and Dojo Cho Magyar Attila, Shidoshi Ho. Some 40 students from several Hungarian Dojo's attended the seminar, which shows great interest for learning Ninjutsu in this country.

This was also shown on the seminar where the participants listened carefully and payed great attention to what Shihan Rostohar taught, and then trained that with maximum seriousness and persistence. I have to admit that this impressed me much, because that only shows how much they want to learn and how much they respect Shihan Rostohar.

Naginata seminar, Zagreb, 22nd & 23rd of January, 2000.

I found this seminar very exciting. I haven't practiced with the naginata before, and it was a new experience. Because of it's cutting capability, it's use was very different from the bo for me. It also teaches you a lot about body movement. Because it is so long and heavy, you can see and feel the slightest errors very clearly. I think on this seminar I realized some points of tai sabaki for the first time. When I stepped out of the car, after the seminar, I felt, that I still made the same movements when I walked. So I think, I have learned something ;)

Pakrac seminar, 24th i 25th of June 2000.

This was the first Sensei Dean Rostohar's seminar as a Shihan in Croatia. The organization was perfect and everything ran smooth. I really wondered how it is possible to manage that type of event so perfect and having a price which is affordable for everyone.

The seminar itself took place at a very nice area with some high trees so we could train quite comfortable untroubled by too hot sun or rain. We learned taijutsu as well as the use of jawara tanbo and kyoketsu shoge and ninja to. We were quite a lot of people and it was really great because you could see and feel the friendship between each of us. Because it was such a relaxed atmosphere and training was great fun but also taken serious we were taught very interesting things.

All in all it was perfect and I'm very happy that we could mobilize some more Austrians to join us so they had their first ninjutsu seminar abroad and it was great and everybody really enjoyed it and as I heard that Pakrac and Zadar competing in organizing good seminars I'm very curious how that will be ;-))
